it's been a while since i last posted some film reviews, so here's a heads up of what to expect in the next couple of days:

MEMOIRS OF A GEISHA
stars ziyi zhang, michelle yeoh, ken wantanabe

nutshell: looks amazing, story is solid, cast (although not japanese but who really gives a shit?) performance were well exectuted. a special note to the kid actor who plays the young sayuri (zhang's character), sazuka ohgo, great stuff.

KISS KISS, BANG BANG
stars robert downey jr., val kilmer

nutshell: original, funny, excellent direction/editing, changes the meaning of "random funny shit". highly recommended, and eagerly awaiting the dvd.

THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA
stars georgie henley, william moseley, tilda swinton.

nutshell: kinda takes a while to take off, but once they hit Narnia things start to pick up. fun to watch, cool monsters and mythical creatures. excellent acting by georgie henley, who plays lucy.

DOOM
stars the rock, karl urban, rosamund pike

nutshell: basic storyline, cool monsters, lots of guns, nice twist at the end. for those holding out for a FPS scene, you'll get it in this film. special note that karl urban (you know, the bad guy from the bourne supremacy?) kicks ass.

TIM BURTON'S CORPSE BRIDE

nutshell: long-awaited but disappointing. animation is top-notch, but story/ending and over-use of songs waters down this should've-been-awesome film. danny elfman (the composer) also fails to impress.

more to come, but for now it's back to Property Law.

can't wait.
